It can't be found on any map, but when the word "Metroplex" is spoken, Texans know exactly the area the speaker is referring to: the incredibly rich and abundant territory in North Texas that encompasses Fort Worth, Dallas, and all the surrounding cities and suburbs in-between. The Metroplex is a fantastic territory to explore, offering both residents and visitors alike the unique opportunity to journey through an area rich in culture, unique experiences and surprises.

The story of the Metroplex is really a tale of two cities: Fort Worth with its wide-open plains to the west and the rich rolling blackland prairie of Dallas to the east. But there are more than just differences in geography that separate these two iconic Texas cities. While the distance between the two cities is only 32 miles, though ideologically it might as well be a million times that, judging by the long-time rivalry that has existed between the two. Dallas is considered more sophisticated and glamorous, while traditional Fort Worth is proud of its "Cow Town" roots. Time does, however, have a way of smoothing over rough patches, and with its passing the relationship between the two cities has evolved from open hostility to friendly competition.

One of the reasons why the icy relations between these two cities has somewhat melted is a common love of culture. Between the two, the Metroplex is home to more than 25 of the best fine arts museums found anywhere in the world and countless galleries. In fact, one of the friendly rivalries between the two cities is the race to out-do each other by creating a bigger, better and thriving arts district - much to the benefit and delight of art lovers everywhere.

Another important reason for Fort Worth and Dallas to
call a truce was the mutual agreement in 1965 to build the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, also commonly referred to as just "DFW". The construction of this major hub airport provided a link between the two cities. Growth in the area soon followed, with many suburban neighborhoods springing up and filling in the gap. Already established small towns in the area found themselves experiencing their own growing pains, and have worked hard to maintain their individuality and unique quality of life. As a result, potential homeowners have their pick of finding a home within a community that perfectly matches their needs.
