Some of the best public high schools can be found right here in Dallas, Texas.  According to Business Insider, the high schools listed below make the list of achievers in the Best Public High Schools in America.  Rankings were based on data collected by Niche, who considered factors such as: assessment proficiency, performance on the SAT/ACT and parent academic survey responses.

27. School for the Talented & Gifted

Founded in 1982, the School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG) is a college-preparatory magnet high school in the Dallas Independent School District. TAG features a dynamic community of learners who are guided by a dedicated faculty and supported by a rigorous curriculum, both of which prepare them for the most demanding college programs in the country.

TAG prides itself on attracting curious, self-motivated students who love learning. These students come from a wide range of backgrounds and have a diverse array of interests, passions, and hobbies. Science and Engineering Magnet (SEM) is a college preparatory public high school, which was created in 1982. The school offers a variety of courses designed to allow students to acquire the necessary skills required to compete globally in the areas of Science and Engineering. They are a school with an exciting and rigorous learning environment for both students and staff. They currently serve 400 students in grades nine through twelve. Applicants are selected from the general Dallas ISD population. Admission to the School of Science and Engineering is based upon a student’s achievements and interest. All SEM students are required to participate in a comprehensive Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement curriculum.
